WWE Commentator Refers to Australian Cricketers Smith and Ponting During Match
PERTH: During a recent World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Premium Live Event (PLE), Crown Jewel, former champion Roman Reigns excited cricket enthusiasts by launching a forceful attack on his opponent, Bronson Reed.
The event commenced with a Street Fight between Reigns and Reed. Their rivalry had escalated since their previous encounter in Paris, where Reed launched a brutal assault on Reigns, resulting in Reigns being taken away in an ambulance. Following this, Reigns arranged a match against Reed to settle their differences.
During the much-anticipated match, Reigns grabbed several sports items from the timekeeper’s area, including a cricket bat. He held it up, eliciting cheers from the Perth crowd. Reigns also threw two rugby balls towards Paul Heyman and Reed before using the cricket bat to strike Reed in the abdomen.
BATTER UP! 😮💨
Reed retreated into the ring to evade Reigns’s attacks, but Reigns continued to strike him.
Commentator Wade Barrett, from England, made a reference to prominent Australian cricketers Ricky Ponting and Steve Smith during the action.
“Reigns has become a batsman, like Steve Smith,” Barrett commented as Reigns’s blows forced Reed back into the ring. Barrett also mentioned the Ashes series between Australia and England, set to begin on November 21, with the initial Test match scheduled in Perth Stadium.
