The Rock Explains WrestleMania 41 Absence, Sparks Debate

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has revealed the reasons behind his absence from the WrestleMania 41 main event and shared his views on the show’s conclusion.

The WWE fan base was eagerly awaiting a potential surprise appearance by The Rock during the high-profile WrestleMania 41 match between Cody Rhodes and John Cena.

In a recent discussion, Johnson clarified that he intentionally avoided appearing to ensure the focus remained squarely on Rhodes and Cena. While he was not present, he mentioned he would have approached the finale with a different strategy had he been in a decision-making role.

“With widespread discussion about the WrestleMania 41 ending, The Rock intends to discuss it on Pat McAfee’s show, a leading voice in sports radio. He plans to suggest alterations he would have made. It’s easy to comment after the fact,” The Rock stated.

However, his remarks have drawn criticism, notably from wrestling analyst Dave LaGreca, who questioned the timing and relevance of Johnson’s opinions post-event.

LaGreca commented, “Choosing not to participate or attend WrestleMania, then suggesting alternative approaches undermines Triple H. A more appropriate response would have been to praise the event or remain silent. His comments effectively criticized Triple H’s direction.”

He further noted, “If you are not involved, your input is unnecessary. If he contributed creatively and attended, a collective ‘we’ would be appropriate. However, he prefers highlighting his individual perspective when expressing dissatisfaction. He is quick to use ‘we’ for successes but distances himself during perceived failures.”

WrestleMania 41 Highlights

WrestleMania 41 culminated unexpectedly, with John Cena securing his 17th world championship, surpassing Ric Flair’s previous record.

Cena’s Heel Turn

Beyond the championship victory, Cena surprised attendees by adopting a heel persona for the first time in over twenty years.

Match Dynamics

The match between Cena and Rhodes kept fans captivated. The arena reverberated with mixed chants supporting and opposing Cena.

Rhodes executed maneuvers such as a Disaster Kick and Cody Cutter, while Cena responded with Attitude Adjustments and an STFU submission. Despite the intense exchange, Rhodes remained resilient.

Interference and Finale

The match was further complicated by Travis Scott’s unexpected interference, reminiscent of a prior incident. Although Rhodes initially defended himself, the distraction allowed Cena to capitalize.

Cena then executed a low blow and struck Rhodes with the championship, leading to a controversial pin and victory.
