Veteran Pakistani actor and comedian Javed Kodu, known for his memorable performances in television, film, and stage, has passed away after a prolonged illness. His family confirmed that he was undergoing treatment at General Hospital in Lahore and had been battling multiple health issues, including paralysis resulting from a brain hemorrhage, heart disease, and complications following stomach surgery.

Born Muhammad Javed, Kodu began his career in 1981 with the stage play “Sauday Baaz” and went on to appear in over 150 Punjabi and Urdu films, as well as numerous television programs. He gained widespread recognition for his roles in popular dramas such as “Ainak Wala Jinn,” “Ashiyana,” and “Khabarnaak.”

Despite his success, Kodu faced significant challenges due to his short stature and health issues. In a 2024 interview, he spoke candidly about the societal obstacles he encountered and the financial difficulties he endured, expressing hope that his friends would support him during tough times.

The news of his passing elicited an outpouring of grief from fans and public figures alike. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over Kodu’s death, stating that his passing had created a void in the media industry that may never be filled. The Prime Minister extended his condolences to the late artist’s family during this difficult time. ​

Javed Kodu’s funeral prayers are scheduled to be held after Zuhr in Singh Pura, Lahore. He is survived by his family, who mourn the loss of a beloved husband and father.
