Has Prince Harry’s Marriage Changed Him for the Worse?
Prince Harry’s dedication may have waned since his marriage. The Duke of Sussex is facing claims that he has become less involved with the charity Sentebale following his marriage to Meghan Markle, his departure from royal duties in 2018, and his move to the United States in 2020.
Sentebale, established by the Duke in 2006 in honor of his late mother, Princess Diana, aimed to provide assistance to children and young individuals in southern Africa, particularly those impacted by HIV/AIDS.
Chief Khoabane Theko, the leading chief of Thaba Bosiu, where Sentebale is located in Lesotho, has spoken out about Prince Harry’s perceived reduced role in the charity, suggesting that his marriage has “killed the spirit”.
He expressed his disappointment that Harry and Meghan did not visit Lesotho during their trip to Africa.
Speaking with the Telegraph, Chief Theko discussed the Duke’s visits, stating, “His diminished interest has completely undermined Sentebale’s purpose.”
“When [Sentebale] started, I clearly remember his passionate words about his mother, this place, and her commitment to Africa,” he recalled.
“He is well-regarded for his openness, but his lack of engagement has significantly dampened Sentebale’s vitality. I haven’t seen him [Prince Harry] since he got married,” the Chief added, seemingly unaware that Prince Harry has actually visited Lesotho twice since marrying Meghan Markle.
