WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app, has moved its operations abroad as a result of the ongoing internet slowdown in Pakistan. This decision comes after the country faced significant disruptions in internet services, causing WhatsApp to relocate its Content Delivery Network (CDN) outside the country. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that this shift has led to connectivity issues for many users.

The PTA has stated that while internet services have improved in certain areas, such as fixed-line and mobile networks, Pakistan still faces challenges with overall internet speed. According to the PTA, Pakistan currently ranks 139th in fixed-line internet speed globally and 97th in mobile internet speed.

Despite these challenges, discussions with global companies like Starlink are underway, aiming to address Pakistan’s internet connectivity issues in the long term
