Google has officially launched its mobile payment service, Google Wallet, in Pakistan, offering users a seamless and secure platform to manage digital transactions.

Key Features of Google Wallet in Pakistan:

  • Contactless Payments: Users can link their debit and credit cards from participating banks to make contactless payments using Android phones and Wear OS devices. This functionality extends to in-store purchases, online shopping, and in-app transactions where Google Pay is accepted.
  • Digital Storage: Beyond payments, Google Wallet allows users to store boarding passes from select airlines, event tickets, and loyalty cards, streamlining travel and retail experiences.
  • Enhanced Security: The platform employs tokenization, generating a device-specific alternate card number and dynamic security code for each transaction. Users must verify their identity before adding a card, and all data is protected through screen lock features. In case of a lost or stolen device, the “Find My Device” feature enables users to lock or erase their information remotely.

Setting Up Google Wallet:

  1. Download the App: Google Wallet is available for download on the Google Play Store.
  2. Add Payment Methods: After installation, users can add their debit or credit cards by following the on-screen instructions.
  3. Verification: Complete the verification process as prompted to ensure security.
  4. Ready to Use: Once set up, users can begin making contactless payments and utilize other features offered by Google Wallet.

Supported Banks:

At launch, several banks are compatible with Google Wallet, with more expected to join in the coming months. Users are advised to check the app or contact their banks to confirm compatibility.
