Imam Hints at Frustration After One-Day Cup Success
KARACHI: Following a pair of centuries for Yorkshire in the ongoing One-Day Cup 2025, Pakistani top-order batsman Imam-ul-Haq posted an intriguing message on Wednesday.
Imam’s last appearance for Pakistan in the ODI format was in April of this year against New Zealand. He was a notable omission from the squad for the recent three-match series against West Indies, which the hosts won 2-1.
The left-handed batter, who joined Yorkshire as an international player after India’s Raturaj Gaikwad withdrew from the One-Day Cup fixtures due to personal reasons, has been demonstrating exceptional form. Currently, he is the leading run-scorer, having amassed 331 runs in three innings at an impressive average of 110.
His One-Day Cup began with a solid half-century in Yorkshire’s five-wicket victory over Warwickshire. This was followed by two consecutive match-winning centuries against Northamptonshire and Lancashire.
After his century against Lancashire, Imam shared a cryptic message on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Imam’s Tweet
“Chase too hard, and it slips away. Relax, focus, and let it come to you,” he posted.
Imam-ul-Haq’s strong batting performance has propelled Yorkshire to three successive victories, placing them at the top of Group B with 12 points from three matches and a net run rate of +2.219. Their next match is scheduled against Somerset at the York Cricket Club in York on August 14.
Imam has played in 75 ODIs for Pakistan, accumulating 3152 runs at an average of 47.04, including nine centuries and 20 half-centuries.
