Yankees Defeat Rangers as Judge Homers and Warren Shines

NEW YORK: At Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, Aaron Judge’s two-run home run, along with Will Warren’s impressive 10 strikeouts, led the New York Yankees to a 5-2 victory against the Texas Rangers in MLB action.

Warren (3-2) pitched five and two-thirds innings, permitting five hits and issuing one walk while amassing 34 strikeouts over his past four appearances.

Key defensive plays, including a play by catcher Austin Wells in the first inning and another by third baseman Oswald Peraza in the sixth, both involving Josh Smith of the Rangers, backed Warren’s stellar outing.

Ben Rice initiated the scoring for the Yankees with a solo home run in the second inning against Rangers pitcher Patrick Corbin (3-3). Rice later added a sacrifice fly in the fourth, increasing the Yankees’ advantage.

Anthony Volpe extended the lead with an RBI double in the sixth, pushing the score to 3-0. Judge then blasted his league-leading 16th home run in the eighth inning, maintaining a .403 batting average.

Jonah Heim responded for the Rangers with a two-run homer in the ninth inning with two outs, but it wasn’t enough. This defeat marks Texas’ third in their last four games, halting their six-game winning streak.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy was ejected in the sixth inning by home plate umpire Carlos Torres following a disagreement over a pitch call that favored Judge.

Corbin pitched five innings for the Rangers, allowing three runs on five hits, with three strikeouts and two walks.

In the second game of the three-game series on Wednesday, the Yankees will send Ryan Yarbrough to the mound to face the Rangers’ Jacob deGrom.
