KARACHI: Abdullah Nawaz of Pakistan saw his journey at the World Junior Squash Championship come to an end on Wednesday after a decisive 3-0 loss to Egypt’s Adam Hawal. The match took place in the Round of 16 at the Black Ball Sporting Club in New Cairo.

Nawaz, who had previously demonstrated strong performances to reach the pre-quarter-finals, struggled against Hawal, with scores of 11-6, 11-5, and 11-2.

His defeat signifies the conclusion of Pakistan’s participation in the individual segment of the World Junior Squash Championship.

The Pakistani athletes will now concentrate on the team events, which are set to begin on July 27.

Nawaz began his campaign impressively, securing consecutive straight-set victories in his initial two matches against Keng In Leong from Macau and Rohan Paliwal from Canada, which propelled him into the third round.

In the third round, he encountered strong resistance from Oscar Okonkwo of the USA, who challenged him with a determined performance.

However, Nawaz managed to secure a 3-1 victory, recovering by winning two successive sets after losing the second. The final scores were 11-8, 10-12, 11-7, and 11-2.
