Worcestershire Clinches Victory Over Nottinghamshire in Vitality Blast
Worcestershire secured a convincing 45-run triumph over Nottinghamshire in the ongoing Men’s Vitality Blast 2025 at the County Ground, New Road, on Thursday, propelled by a stellar performance from Pakistani bowler Khurram Shahzad.
Ethan Brookes’ explosive 57 off 20 balls was instrumental in Worcestershire’s imposing total of 206-7 in their 20 overs.
Captain Brett D’Oliveira added a valuable 46 from 36 deliveries, with Kashif Ali (34) and Adam Hose (33) providing further support.
Nottinghamshire were eventually dismissed for 161 in 18.2 overs in response to the target.
Tom Moores put up a fight with a rapid 57 off 29 balls, and Matthew Montgomery scored 47 off 22 deliveries. Moises Henriques contributed 18 runs from 16 balls.
Worcestershire’s bowling attack delivered a solid display, with Ben Allison and Ethan Brookes both taking three wickets.
Khurram Shahzad and Tom Taylor each claimed two wickets, with Shahzad making key early breakthroughs by removing openers Joe Clarke and Freddie McCann.
Earlier, Dillon Pennington and Daniel Sams were the standout bowlers for Nottinghamshire, each securing three wickets, while Liam Patterson-White took one wicket but conceded runs in his four overs.
Shahzad, the 25-year-old Pakistani bowler, has so far taken seven wickets in five matches in the tournament, maintaining an economy rate of 8.14.
