Record Prize Money Announced for Women’s ODI World Cup 2025
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed a groundbreaking prize pool of USD 13.88 million for the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2.
This figure represents nearly a fourfold increase compared to the USD 3.5 million awarded at the previous tournament held in New Zealand in 2022.
In a notable development, the total prize money for the women’s competition now exceeds the USD 10 million offered at the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023.
The ICC has boosted the financial rewards for each stage of the competition. The champions of the 13th edition will receive USD 4.48 million, marking a substantial rise from the USD 1.32 million earned by Australia’s women’s team in 2022.
The runners-up will be granted USD 2.24 million, an increase from USD 600,000, while the semi-finalists will each be awarded USD 1.12 million, quadrupling the amount from the last tournament.
Teams securing fifth and sixth positions will each receive USD 700,000, and those finishing seventh and eighth will each be granted USD 280,000. Furthermore, each participating team is guaranteed USD 250,000, with an additional USD 34,314 awarded for every victory in the group stage.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah hailed the announcement as a watershed moment for women’s cricket, noting that the four-fold increase in prize money demonstrates a firm dedication to the sport’s sustained advancement and ensures equitable treatment for women cricketers pursuing the sport professionally.
