Larsen Shines with Two Goals in 3-2 Victory Over West Ham

Wolverhampton Wanderers have declined a second offer from Newcastle United for Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. The rejection followed Larsen’s impressive performance, where he netted twice in a 3-2 triumph against West Ham United.

The club previously turned down a £50 million bid from Newcastle. Subsequently, the Magpies returned with an improved offer of £55 million for the striker.

Wolves’ stance indicates a strong desire to retain the Norway international. International reports suggest this is due to the limited time available to secure a suitable replacement with the transfer window closing on Monday.

The club recognizes Larsen’s importance to their chances of remaining competitive in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Alexander Isak, a Swedish forward currently experiencing a lull with the Magpies and absent this season, is reportedly seeking a transfer to Liverpool as Newcastle explores alternative attacking options.

Strand Larsen, whose permanent transfer from Celta Vigo was finalized this summer for £23 million, scored twice in the final eight minutes of Wolves’ 3-2 EFL Cup win over West Ham on Tuesday, after entering the game as a substitute.

Despite his desire to keep the forward, manager Vitor Pereira did not dismiss the possibility of a sale.

Pereira commented that in football, every player has a valuation, mentioning renowned players. However, he emphasized that if the decision were solely his, Larsen would remain with the team due to his significant impact.

“Football is football and every player has a price, even [Lionel] Messi or Cristiano [Ronaldo]. I understand football but for me it’s very important for us. We will see what happens,” Larsen stated.

“If it’s my decision, of course [he stays]. He is a very important player.”
