Wilder Accuses Fury of Cheating, Announces Herndon Fight
Deontay Wilder has labeled Tyson Fury as the ‘biggest cheater in boxing,’ according to recent reports.
Fury, a former heavyweight champion, made a surprising announcement of his retirement from professional boxing in January, following his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
After failing to secure the undisputed championship in May 2024, Fury was anticipated to return for a fight against Anthony Joshua, but he ultimately stepped away from the sport.
The series of intense and exhausting matches between Fury and Wilder will be remembered for years. Wilder, known for his significant knockout ability, previously held the WBC (World Boxing Council) heavyweight title.
Despite losing his last two fights, Wilder has decided to return to the ring. He is scheduled to face Tyrrell Herndon on June 27 in Wichita, Kansas.
Wilder stated his belief that Fury is a cheater, claiming he has corrupted the sport. He said, “I mean, Fury is a cheater. He’s the biggest cheater in boxing. I know what he is, they know what they are. Of course, he’s the biggest [cheater] in boxing.”
Wilder has accused Fury of cheating in the past after losses but has not provided any evidence. He previously criticized Mark Breland for stopping their fight prematurely. He also mentioned that the 40-pound, diamond-encrusted mask and body armor he wore during the ring walk drained his energy and weakened him for the fight.
