Pakistan to Face West Indies in ODI and T20I Series

Pakistan is slated to participate in a three-match ODI and T20I series against the West Indies in August. The squad announcement for the T20I series in the USA is expected soon.

Following a 2-1 series loss to Bangladesh, alterations to the team are anticipated. Fast bowlers such as Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Hasan Ali are expected to rejoin the squad to reinforce the pace attack.

Series Details

The T20I matches will be held at Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida, on July 31, August 2, and August 3. The ODI series will then take place in Trinidad on August 8, 10, and 12.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had suggested converting the ODI series into additional T20I matches to better prepare for the 2025 ACC Men’s Asia Cup and the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Both of these tournaments will be played in the T20 format.

However, Cricket West Indies (CWI) seems unwilling to modify the schedule. The Caribbean board has already commenced ticket sales for both formats, indicating their commitment to the original tour plan.

The board is keen on preserving the ODIs to rebuild its 50-over team, especially after failing to qualify for the 2023 ICC World Cup.

CWI CEO Chris Dehring stated that discussions with the PCB are ongoing, but the schedule remains unchanged. “The schedule remains as it is, and we continue to engage with the PCB on the matter,” Dehring confirmed.

As part of their T20I promotion, CWI is offering a two-for-one ticket deal, as well as reducing single-ticket prices by 50%. ODI ticket prices range from $8 to $175.

A final decision on the series structure is expected in the coming days, as both boards continue to discuss the proposed format adjustments.
