West Indies Clinch Victory Over Nepal in Third T20I
SHARJAH: The West Indies showcased their dominance in both batting and bowling to secure a convincing victory against Nepal in the third T20I held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. This win prevented a series sweep by Nepal.
Nepal faced difficulties in establishing substantial partnerships and were eventually bowled out for 122 in 19.5 overs.
Kushal Bhurtel emerged as the top scorer, contributing a composed 39 runs from 29 balls before being dismissed by Akeal Hosein. Rohit Paudel added 17 runs, while Kushal Malla scored 12. Gulshan Jha also contributed 10 runs; however, the remaining batsmen struggled against the pressure.
Brief resistance from Sundeep Jora (14) and Aarif Sheikh (6) wasn’t enough, as the rapid fall of lower-order wickets hindered Nepal’s chances of setting a competitive target.
Nepal’s momentum was further affected by two run-outs involving Gulshan Jha and Aadil Alam.
Ramon Simmonds delivered an impressive bowling performance, taking 4 wickets while conceding only 15 runs. Jediah Blades supported him with two wickets.
Akeal Hosein and Jason Holder each claimed a wicket. Kyle Mayers, Karima Gore, and Navin Bidaisee maintained economical spells, although they didn’t secure any wickets.
The West Indies chased the modest target of 123 with ease, achieving the required runs in just 12.2 overs without losing any wickets.
Amir Jangoo stood out with a remarkable 74 off 45 deliveries, which included five boundaries and six sixes, achieving a strike rate of 164.44.
Ackeem Auguste provided solid support with 41 runs from 29 deliveries, hitting four boundaries and two sixes.
Despite this loss, Nepal had already secured a historic series victory by winning the three-match T20I series 2-1.
This series win marked a significant achievement for Nepal, as they became the first associate team to secure a T20I series win against a full-member ICC nation.
