West Indies Restricts Pakistan to 133-9 in Second T20I

LAUDERHILL: In the second T20I of the three-match series held at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground on Sunday, the West Indies, propelled by Jason Holder’s impressive bowling, limited Pakistan to 133-9 in their 20 overs.

Pakistan, opting to bat after winning the toss, faced an initial setback when Saim Ayub, who had previously scored a half-century, was dismissed by Holder for seven runs off nine balls in the second over.

Holder struck again in his subsequent over, removing Sahibzada Farhan for three runs off seven balls, leaving Pakistan in a precarious position at 16-2 by the fourth over.

The situation worsened for Pakistan as Akeal Hosein dismissed Mohammad Haris for just four runs, further adding to the pressure.

Fakhar Zaman and captain Salman Ali Agha then collaborated to try and steady the innings. However, just as Pakistan began to recover, Roston Chase dismissed Fakhar for 20 runs off 19 balls in the 10th over, reducing the score to 53-4.

Salman then partnered with Hassan Nawaz, and together they formed a significant 60-run partnership that aided Pakistan’s recovery.

Hassan played aggressively, hitting three consecutive sixes in the 15th over, reaching 40 off 23 balls, including one four and four sixes.

Holder returned to break the partnership in the 16th over, dismissing Hassan and securing his third wicket. Pakistan found themselves struggling at 113-5.

In the following over, Gudakesh Motie delivered a double blow, first dismissing Salman, who scored 38 off 33, and then Faheem Ashraf for a golden duck, bringing Pakistan to 117-7 in 16.3 overs.

Holder continued his strong performance, taking his fourth wicket in the 19th over by dismissing Mohammad Nawaz for two runs. Shamar Joseph concluded the innings in the final over, claiming his first wicket by removing Hasan Ali for eight runs.

Pakistan’s innings concluded with Shaheen Shah Afridi unbeaten on two and Sufiyan Muqeem not out on one.

Jason Holder stood out, concluding with figures of 4-19 in his four overs. Gudakesh Motie took 2-39, while Akeal Hosein, Shamar Joseph, and Roston Chase each took a wicket.
