Verstappen Predicts Yamal Will Secure Ballon d’Or in Future

Max Verstappen, the reigning Formula One champion from Red Bull, has stated that the Ballon d’Or award is up for grabs now that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s era of dominance has concluded.

During an interview, Verstappen acknowledged the talent of Barcelona’s rising star, Lamine Yamal, suggesting he has the potential to win the prestigious award, though he believes Yamal is currently too young.

Verstappen noted the absence of a clear frontrunner for the Ballon d’Or since Messi and Ronaldo’s reign ended. However, he expressed optimism about Yamal’s chances of winning the award in the years ahead.

Verstappen remarked, “What he’s achieving is impressive considering his age, isn’t it? It’s quite remarkable. While the Ballon d’Or should be awarded to the best player, in reality, following the Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo era, there isn’t an obvious candidate, at least in my opinion. No player stands out significantly above the rest at the moment.”

He further added, “Perhaps some players are still developing. Nevertheless, I am confident that Lamine Yamal will claim the Ballon d’Or in the future.”

Verstappen also praised Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick’s strategies, stating his appreciation for the attacking approach employed by the German football manager at the club.

Verstappen concluded, “I appreciate the approach, and it has been effective thus far. It’s a very attacking style, which can be risky defensively at times. Its success depends on various factors, including the opposition’s tactics. You can’t always rely on the same system. But I like it, and it has proven successful.”
