Norris Claims Top Spot in British Grand Prix Practice as Verstappen Struggles

SILVERSTONE: Red Bull’s Max Verstappen described Friday’s practice sessions at the British Grand Prix as a challenging day for both himself and the team.

Verstappen, currently third in the driver standings, concluded practice in fifth position. McLaren’s Lando Norris achieved the fastest time, while his teammate and championship leader, Oscar Piastri, finished fourth.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc secured second place, followed by Lewis Hamilton in third.

Verstappen, who has secured the last four driver’s titles with Red Bull, expressed dissatisfaction with his car’s performance. He has encountered challenges this season, with McLaren currently leading the championship.

The Dutch driver voiced his concerns regarding the practice session at the British Grand Prix, stating it was a difficult day for him.

“Personally, it was quite a bad day. There’s simply no balance in the car, making it very tricky from corner to corner. Overall, I think it was a poor day for us,” Verstappen commented.

When questioned about the influence of wind during the practice, Verstappen, who ranked 10th in FP1 and fifth in FP2, responded assertively.

“It plays a significant role, but that’s not an excuse, as everyone has to contend with it. It’s not easy, but it affects everyone equally,” he stated.

“Each weekend presents different scenarios. With the wind conditions here, our car seems quite susceptible to it, making it generally a difficult day.

“We might examine a few aspects, but overall, we seem to be lacking a bit in performance.”
