Vasseur Defends Hamilton, Urges Media to Cease Scrutiny
Ferrari’s team principal, Fred Vasseur, has spoken out in support of Lewis Hamilton, requesting the media to stop excessively analysing the seven-time world champion’s performance since he joined Scuderia Ferrari.
The British racer has been under constant examination due to his results not meeting expectations after his celebrated transfer from Mercedes. His most notable showing was at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, where he secured fourth place, marking his most promising result for Ferrari thus far.
Despite the less-than-ideal outcomes, Vasseur is steadfast in his backing of Hamilton. He consistently praises the British driver’s dedication and skill, expressing unwavering belief in his potential.
Earlier in the week, when faced with more questions regarding Hamilton’s performance, Vasseur firmly stated, “You have to stop this.”
He admitted that the team’s start hasn’t aligned with their hopes but stressed the significance of patience, unity, and diligent effort to improve their situation.
Teamwork and Consistency
“It is not that he performs well one weekend, and everything is perfect, and then when he has a bad weekend, it is a disaster. We simply need to remain composed, maintain our calm, and collaborate effectively.”
Even after his initial appeal, journalists persisted with inquiries about Hamilton, leading Vasseur to reiterate his position.
“You have to stop,” he insisted. “Every driver is focused on self-improvement, working closely with the team, aiming to develop strategies, and striving to perform better.”
Vasseur also highlighted that consistent performance and effective teamwork, rather than sudden transformations, are what yield results.
“It’s not as if on a Saturday night he lacks preparation or isn’t comfortable with the car, and then magically on Sunday, everything falls into place. We simply need to remain composed,” he explained.
“Of course, he performed exceptionally well in China and at Imola, and progressively, we will achieve our goals,” he concluded.
