Usyk’s Manager Dismisses Potential Bout with Jake Paul After Dubois Win

Following Oleksandr Usyk’s triumph over Daniel Dubois, Egis Klimas, the manager for the undisputed heavyweight champion, has stated that Usyk would never share the ring with Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, before concluding his career. This statement was widely circulated by international media sources on Monday.

Usyk secured a knockout victory against Dubois in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium this past Saturday.

The Ukrainian boxer has made history by becoming the first to achieve undisputed champion status for a third time, having previously held the title at cruiserweight (2018) and now at heavyweight (2024).

In their recent match, Oleksandr Usyk demonstrated dominance throughout the initial four rounds before knocking down Dubois early in the fifth. He ultimately defeated his British adversary with a left hook later in the same round, claiming victory in front of an estimated audience of 90,000.

In an interview, Klimas addressed the possibility of a match between Usyk and Paul, asserting that Usyk would not engage in a boxing match with the YouTuber-turned-boxer. However, he did acknowledge the potential for a mixed martial arts (MMA) contest between the two.

Klimas Remarks

“Regarding Jake Paul, we’re not considering a boxing match, as it could potentially lead to legal issues… It’s understood that a boxing match between Jake Paul and Oleksandr is not feasible, and Oleksandr would never agree to it,” Klimas explained.

He further added, “However, considering Jake Paul’s wrestling background and his reported proficiency in wrestling during his youth, along with some fighting skills, an MMA contest could be an ideal scenario.”

After Usyk’s victory over Dubois, both individuals confronted each other in the ring, sparking speculation about a future showdown.
