San Francisco Unicorns Maintain Lead with Undefeated Record

OAKLAND: The San Francisco Unicorns showcased their dominance in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, clinching their third straight victory by defeating MI New York in a captivating match at the Oakland Coliseum on Sunday.

After being put into bat, MI New York managed a total of 182-7 in their 20 overs, largely due to Quinton de Kock’s impressive innings of 63 from 38 deliveries.

Late-innings hitting by Kieron Pollard (30 off 16) and Sunny Patel (20 off 11) helped bolster their score.

Hassan Khan, the former Pakistan U19 all-rounder, experienced a mixed performance, claiming 2 wickets but conceding 54 runs in his four overs.

Pakistan’s pace bowler Haris Rauf provided excellent support, delivering a frugal spell and securing 2 wickets for 24 runs.

In pursuit of 183, the Unicorns faced an unsteady beginning, losing four wickets for only 42 runs during the powerplay. However, a pivotal 64-run partnership between Hassan Khan and Tim Seifert steadied the ship.

Hassan played an explosive innings, scoring 43 runs from just 17 balls, which included five sixes and two fours, at a strike rate of 252.94, before his dismissal.

The game was closely contested, but Xavier Bartlett’s unbeaten 59 from 25 balls propelled the Unicorns to victory with five balls remaining.

Haris Rauf also added a valuable contribution with the bat, scoring 10 runs.

Notably, Rauf currently leads the tournament in wickets taken, with nine in three matches, followed by Hassan Khan with six wickets.

With this victory, the San Francisco Unicorns remain at the summit of the standings, undefeated with six points and a net run rate of 2.842.
