Tsitsipas Rehires Father as Coach After Ivanisevic Split
Stefanos Tsitsipas has rehired his father, Apostolos, as his coach, which was announced Wednesday. This follows the conclusion of his partnership with Goran Ivanisevic, the former Wimbledon champion.
Ivanisevic previously assisted Novak Djokovic, the former world number one, in securing nine of his 24 Grand Slam titles.
Tsitsipas, formerly ranked third globally, only worked with the ex-coach for a brief two-month period, which ended last week.
Tsitsipas, who was a runner-up at the 2021 French Open and 2023 Australian Open, is currently ranked 30th in the world and clinched victory at the 2025 Dubai Tennis Championships final.
Following Tsitsipas’s early exit in the first round at Wimbledon, Ivanisevic critically assessed the Greek player, stating he had “never seen a more unprepared player” ever.
Reflecting on Ivanisevic’s departure, Tsitsipas shared on social media that he’s back to square one. He has reconnected with his father, who has always shown confidence in him.
“Some journeys full circle,” Tsitsipas posted.
“After a period apart, I’ve reunited with my father – the initial believer.”
He expressed appreciation for sharing the court with his returning coach, describing it as a homecoming.
“I’m pleased to once again share the court and journey ahead with him. We’ve navigated every stage together, and this next phase feels appropriate.
“Sometimes, returning home represents the most courageous step forward.”
