Ingram Declared Fit by Raptors Coach Rajakovic After Ankle Recovery
Brandon Ingram has successfully recovered from an ankle injury and is now eligible to join the Toronto Raptors’ lineup, according to an update from coach Darko Rajakovic on Thursday.
Reports indicate that the 27-year-old, who previously earned All-Star honors, is expected to participate in the team’s upcoming practice sessions.
Coach Rajakovic commented on Ingram’s condition, stating that he is free from pain and in excellent form.
Coach’s Remarks
- “He’s pain-free and demonstrating good movement. He has also gained strength. He’s in a very good position,” Rajakovic noted.
Ingram’s season was cut short on December 7 due to the injury, during his time with the New Orleans Pelicans. Since then, he has been undergoing rehabilitation with the Raptors, combining individual workouts with specialized training.
The Raptors acquired Ingram in a trade back in February, which also involved Bruce Brown and Kelly Olynyk moving to the Pelicans. Shortly after the trade, Ingram committed to a three-year contract extension with the Raptors, valued at $120 million. This agreement reportedly includes a player option for the 2027-28 season.
To date, Ingram has not played in any games for the Raptors. He was officially sidelined for the remainder of the season on April 9, following a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection to aid in his recovery.
During the 2024-25 season, Ingram played 18 games, achieving averages of 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists.
An All-Star selectee in 2019-20, Ingram holds career averages of 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists across 495 games (with 456 starts) played for the Los Angeles Lakers (2016-19) and the Pelicans. He was initially drafted by the Lakers as the No. 2 overall pick in 2016.
