Tigers Triumph Over Angels with Dingler’s Homer
ANAHEIM: At Angel Stadium on Friday, Dillon Dingler’s three-run home run helped the Detroit Tigers defeat the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 10-4.
The Tigers now boast a season record of 20-12, the best in the American League, thanks to standout efforts from several players.
Javier Baez and Gleyber Torres each contributed with solo home runs in the third inning, further extending Detroit’s advantage.
Casey Mize (5-1), the starting pitcher, pitched seven innings, conceding four runs on seven hits. In the third inning, Jorge Soler hit a two-run home run off Mize, and Logan O’Hoppe added a solo home run in the second.
Trailing 4-2 in the eighth inning, the Tigers initiated a comeback. Torres, who had three hits during the game, singled against Angels relief pitcher Ryan Zeferjahn.
Manager Ron Washington then brought in left-hander Reid Detmers (0-2), who then faced Riley Greene. Greene walked, and an RBI single by Andy Ibanez narrowed the Tigers’ deficit to 4-3.
The Angels’ defense stumbled when center fielder Jo Adell mishandled a hit from Ibanez, enabling two runners to advance. After one runner was tagged out, Zach McKinstry hit a sharp single, leveling the score at 4-4.
With the game tied, Dingler, who had already achieved three hits, launched a towering home run to left field, propelling the Tigers to a 7-4 lead. They increased their lead to 10-4 in the ninth.
For Los Angeles, starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi pitched five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, while recording five strikeouts and one walk.
The Tigers’ comprehensive performance clinched a crucial victory as they maintain their impressive season in the American League.
