Sri Lanka Announces Squad for Bangladesh ODI Series

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially revealed its 16-member team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, set to take place from July 2nd to 8th.

The squad includes the comeback of left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka, who was previously sidelined due to an injury during the home series against Australia in February. He is taking the place of fellow fast bowler Lahiru Udana, who is currently injured.

Sadeera Samarawickrama has also earned a spot in Sri Lanka’s ODI lineup after a considerable absence. The wicketkeeper batter, whose last ODI appearance for Sri Lanka was in November of the previous year, is replacing Nuwanidu Fernando.

Milan Rathnayake, an uncapped player, is also part of the Sri Lankan squad, although he was excluded from the ongoing second Test match against Bangladesh due to a side strain. His participation in the upcoming series will depend on his fitness, which Sri Lanka anticipates he will achieve in due course.

The remaining members of the Sri Lanka squad are consistent with those who participated in the two-match series against Australia in February.

Charith Asalanka, a batting all-rounder, will continue to captain the team, which includes four spinners: Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Dunith Wellalage.

The top order for Sri Lanka will consist of Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Nishan Madushka, and Kusal Mendis, while Asalanka, Samarawickrama, Kamindu Mendis, and Janith Liyanage will strengthen the middle order.

The first two ODIs of the three-match series will be held in Colombo on July 2nd and 5th, respectively, while the final match will be played in Pallekele on July 10th.
