Mehidy Hasan Miraz Possibly Replacing Sikandar Raza in PSL 10 Playoffs
Sikandar Raza, the star all-rounder for Lahore Qalandars, has left to join the Zimbabwe squad in England for a significant Test match in Nottingham.
This game represents Zimbabwe’s first Test match in England since 2003 and their first appearance in any format in England since 2004.
Raza was a crucial player for the Qalandars during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 group stage, participating in 10 games and scoring 232 runs with an impressive strike rate of 162.23.
He played a vital role, hitting two half-centuries and making several important contributions, which helped the Shaheen Afridi-led team earn a spot in the playoffs.
Sameen Rana, the team director, released a statement in which he recognized Sikandar Raza’s valuable contribution to the team and praised his impact.
Rana stated that Sikandar is more than just a player; he’s family. Everyone on the team has been inspired by his dedication, enthusiasm, and zeal. Although they will miss him terribly, they are also happy to see him representing his country in such a memorable game.
Raza gave the fans a touching message before he left the team, communicating his feelings and gratitude.
Raza stated that Lahore Qalandars is extremely dear to him, and it is never easy to say farewell. But because national duty comes first, he has a duty to Zimbabwe. He declared he would support his brothers in green from afar and watch every ball.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has surfaced as a possible replacement for Sikandar for the PSL 10 playoffs in a recent development.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has given Mehidy Hasan Miraz a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play for Lahore Qalandars between May 22 and May 25, 2025.
He will join Shakib Al Hasan, another Bangladeshi superstar, who debuted for the Qalandars in their most recent match.
The two-time champions, for those who are unaware, continued their PSL 10 campaign with an exciting 26-run victory over Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in a game that was hampered by rain.
Following a weather delay, the game was shortened to 13 overs per side.
After winning the toss, Zalmi captain Babar Azam elected to bowl first. The Qalandars responded with a powerful 149/8 total, powered by Fakhar Zaman’s explosive 36-ball 60, which included 10 boundaries and three sixes.
Zalmi’s batting order struggled in pursuit of a tough 150-run target, only managing 123/8.
Daniel Sams led the team in scoring with an undefeated 26, while Ahmed Daniyal (24), Abdul Samad (17), and Babar Azam (16) made contributions that weren’t enough to save their campaign. The remaining batsmen were unable to reach double digits.
This loss represented a new low point for Peshawar Zalmi, as they were eliminated from the PSL playoffs for the first time ever.
In the meantime, Lahore Qalandars advanced to the next round along with Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, and archrivals Karachi Kings.
The Qalandars moved up to third place in the standings with 11 points from 10 games thanks to the victory, passing United, who have 10 points from nine.
