Pakistani Boxer Shoaib Khan Zehri to Face Indian Boxer for UBO World Title

Pakistani professional boxer Shoaib Khan Zehri, an Asian Champion and WBC gold medalist, is preparing to represent the country in the upcoming UBO World Title fight against Indian boxer Thakur Kumar. This significant event is scheduled to occur in Turkey on September 27.

Zehri will be the sole representative from Pakistan in this distinguished event, signifying a major landmark in the nation’s 76-year boxing legacy.

The Quetta native conveyed his resolve ahead of the highly anticipated competition, stating that his primary aim is to bring honor to Pakistan.

“I will strive to elevate Pakistan’s reputation,” Shoaib stated.

“This match is about Pakistan’s pride. I am thoroughly prepared and confident in defeating my adversary,” he added.

The 27-year-old boxer also emphasized the commitment and effort he has invested in his training camp.

“I have rigorously trained for this challenge. My concentration is on discipline, stamina, and strategy,” he remarked.

“The youth of Balochistan, and throughout Pakistan, admire me, and I want to demonstrate to them that with dedication and perseverance, anything is achievable,” he concluded.

In recognition of his accomplishments, the Balochistan Police recently designated Zehri as their goodwill ambassador.

He was also awarded the honorary rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari on February 19. He is the second athlete from the province to receive this distinction, following fast bowler Naseem Shah.

Zehri’s honors include being a WBC gold medalist, Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) Asian Champion, and Pakistan Boxing Council (PBC) national champion. He also leads Chief SKZ Promotion.

The 27-year-old boasts an undefeated professional record, with six victories, one draw, and one cancelled fight.

Zehri has steadily established himself as a disciplined and technically skilled boxer. His most recent triumph was on November 8, 2024, at the Fitbox Fighting Championship, where he surpassed Ziaullah Amin to secure a unanimous decision.

Prior to that, on September 6, 2024, he defeated Muhammad Bilal at the Boxing Fight Show, again winning by unanimous decision.

Earlier in the year, on January 27, 2024, he convincingly defeated Sajid Khan in a bout titled Shoaib vs. Khan. Although his scheduled fight against Anocha Phuangkaew in March 2023 was cancelled, his 2022 campaign highlighted his ascent on the international stage.

On November 30, 2022, he defeated Indonesia’s Hendrik Barongsay via unanimous decision in The Challenger event.

Two months earlier, on September 28, 2022, Zehri secured a third-round victory over Thailand’s Sornram Sopakul in Fight of the Future.

He also fought to a split draw against Irfan Ullah on July 31, 2022, at New Friend’s Professional Boxing Fight Night—the only imperfection on his otherwise perfect record.

On June 10, 2022, he faced Ali Raza in the Khan vs. Farooq event, where he impressed with a composed unanimous decision victory.
