Trophy Unveiled for T20I Tri-Nation Series in Sharjah
SHARJAH: The trophy for the upcoming T20I tri-nation series, featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was presented on Thursday at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The presentation event saw the attendance of Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, alongside Afghanistan’s skipper, Rashid Khan, and the UAE’s Muhammad Waseem.
Scheduled from August 29 to September 7 at the same venue, the tri-series is considered a crucial preparatory stage for the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup, set to be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
Initially, Pakistan was slated to host Afghanistan for a bilateral series in August.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suggested transforming the series into a tri-nation tournament and shifting it to the UAE to assist players in acclimatizing to the conditions before the Asia Cup.
The tournament commences on Friday, August 29, with Pakistan taking on Afghanistan in the opening match, scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm local time.
Each team will compete against the others twice, ensuring a minimum of four games per team, after which the top two teams will proceed to the final on September 7.
