Shakib Al Hasan Joins Lahore Qalandars for PSL 10
Karachi: Lahore Qalandars, the two-time champions, have added experienced Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to their squad for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10. The remaining matches are scheduled from May 17 to 25.
Shakib Al Hasan, the former captain of Bangladesh, was not initially picked in the PSL 10 player draft held earlier this year. However, he was reportedly considered by the Qalandars for the rest of the tournament.
The Qalandars organization confirmed that Shakib will be replacing New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell, who suffered a hand injury during their recent home defeat against Karachi Kings on May 4.
“The star all-rounder from Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan, is joining Lahore Qalandars. He will be taking the place of Daryl Mitchel, who has been ruled out due to a hand injury sustained in our home game against Karachi,” the franchise announced.
Shakib has not participated in international cricket for Bangladesh since October of this year but has previously played in three editions of this prominent league.
He played for Karachi Kings in the inaugural edition back in 2016. His most recent appearance was with Peshawar Zalmi in 2023, where he only played in one match.
Throughout his PSL career, Shakib has participated in 14 matches, accumulating 181 runs at an average of 16.45, including one half-century.
As a left-arm spinner, he has claimed eight wickets in 12 innings, achieving his best bowling performance of 2/14.
His most recent competitive showing was last November when he played for the Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
Shakib Al Hasan’s inclusion comes at a critical time for the Qalandars in PSL 10 as they compete for one of the three remaining playoff spots.
The reigning two-time champions currently hold the fourth position in the standings with nine points from nine matches. To remain in contention, they must secure a victory in their final league-stage match against Peshawar Zalmi, who are currently in fifth place.
