Bangladeshi cricket star Shakib Al Hasan has been issued an arrest warrant by a Dhaka court after a series of bounced checks worth more than $300,000. The arrest order came after Shakib failed to attend a scheduled court hearing. The court, led by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziaur Rahman, instructed the police to execute the order and submit a report by March 24.

The legal issue stems from a complaint filed by a bank officer, Mohammad Shaibur Rahman, who noted that despite prior summons, Shakib had not complied with the court’s requests, leading to the warrant’s issuance. This situation adds to the mounting controversies surrounding the cricketer, who has been embroiled in political and legal challenges.

Shakib has been living abroad, reportedly due to threats and his involvement in a murder case tied to protests during the previous year. His absence has also led to his exclusion from the upcoming Champions Trophy in Pakistan, further intensifying his controversial career.

In Shakib’s absence, Najmul Hossain Shanto has been appointed as the captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team, stepping up during a turbulent time for the sport in the country.
