Hope achieves his 18th ODI Century with an Unbeaten 120

TAROUBA: On Tuesday, wicketkeeper-batsman Shai Hope further solidified his status by becoming the third-highest century-maker for the West Indies in ODI cricket.

The right-handed batsman reached this milestone during the West Indies’ third ODI match of the series against Pakistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. He scored an undefeated 120 from 94 balls, which included 10 boundaries and five sixes.

This century was his 18th in the format, surpassing former opening batsman Desmond Leo Haynes, who had 17 centuries in ODIs.

Hope is now just one century short of Brian Lara’s total of 19, who holds the second position on the list. Chris Gayle leads with 25 centuries.

His remarkable innings, combined with all-rounder Justin Greaves’ explosive performance towards the end, propelled the West Indies to a significant total of 294/6 against Pakistan in the aforementioned match.

The home team was at 184/6 in 41.2 overs before Hope and Greaves shifted the momentum with aggressive hitting, accumulating 110 runs in just 50 balls.

Hope dominated the pivotal partnership, contributing 60 runs off only 26 deliveries, while Greaves scored 43 off 24 balls.

Additionally, middle-order batsman Roston Chase (36) and opener Evin Lewis (37) provided valuable contributions in guiding the West Indies to a competitive total.

From Pakistan’s side, Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah each claimed two wickets, while Mohammad Nawaz and Saim Ayub secured one wicket apiece.
