Shaheen Describes Raza’s Final Entry as a ‘Movie Scene’

Lahore Qalandars’ captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, acknowledged the collective efforts of the team’s leadership, emerging talents, and international players in securing the championship. He highlighted their ability to overcome obstacles encountered throughout the season.

In an exclusive interview, Shaheen commended Sikandar Raza’s significant contribution, depicting his arrival as something from a movie.

“His arrival felt like a scene from a film. I’ve never encountered a cricketer quite like him. Despite dealing with exhaustion from extensive travel, he performed exactly as needed – securing a crucial wicket and supporting our victory,” he stated.

Reflecting on the season’s difficulties, Shaheen mentioned disturbances to the league schedule because of tensions and the absence of important players during key moments.

“PSL 10 faced interruptions, and players were unavailable. We needed to find replacements, maintain team cohesion, and keep everyone inspired,” he explained.

Despite these obstacles, Shaheen stressed the strong sense of conviction within the team.

“The players believed in our potential for success. The team environment is essential; it’s not solely dependent on having Shaheen to ensure victory,” he noted.

The 25-year-old emphasised the importance of a robust management structure, highlighting that effective leadership supports and motivates the players.

“No one placed blame. Everyone offered support. Our foreign players greatly assisted our younger players. That’s what a team requires to achieve victories and perform effectively,” Shaheen added.

Referring to criticism received after last season’s defeat, Shaheen expressed disappointment with remarks made by some senior figures and fellow cricketers.

“Following our loss last year, some individuals in senior roles made severe remarks. It’s disheartening when fellow cricketers suggest our loss was due to the absence of certain players. That type of criticism feels unjust,” he commented.

Addressing inquiries about his current form and future prospects, Shaheen clarified his position.

“I consistently say that having the appropriate vision is essential. My performance is solid and consistent. I have no intention of changing. I am and will continue to be Shaheen,” he declared.

He also refuted any speculations about withdrawing from specific formats.

“I have no plans to retire from any format. As long as I am able, I will participate in all formats,” Shaheen concluded.
