Shaheen Afridi Eager to Compete in BBL 15
Pakistan’s prominent fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, is prepared to leave an impression in the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 15. He is eager to dismiss some of the most renowned cricketers globally.
During a recent podcast appearance, Shaheen was questioned about which dismissal he would value the most among Babar Azam, Steve Smith, and David Warner.
The left-arm bowler chose not to pick just one, emphasizing the importance of all three athletes.
“I value all three equally,” Shaheen stated. “I wouldn’t favor one over the others as they are all significant wickets. These players are essential for their respective teams, and I would be thrilled to get each of them out.”
He conveyed his excitement regarding the growing number of Pakistani players participating in the competition, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shadab Khan.
“Indeed, with six or seven Pakistani players participating in the Big Bash this year, I am truly excited to compete against them,” he mentioned.
“Having recently played together in the PSL, these individuals are prominent figures who have consistently performed for Pakistan over the years. It presents a significant challenge, and I anticipate that the audience, especially Pakistani supporters, will enjoy watching us compete against Babar, Rizwan, and others. Hopefully, we can deliver an impressive performance for the large crowd,” he added.
The 25-year-old also spoke about his signature wicket celebration and the excitement of performing in front of a lively crowd.
“Securing a wicket in the opening over would make it even more memorable,” he expressed.
“I’ll channel all my energy into the celebration, and with the crowd’s backing, it will be an incredible feeling. It would be even more fulfilling if both Pakistani and Australian fans cheer and shout ‘Afridi’ as I begin my run-up. That would truly energize me, and I believe I would enjoy it even more,” he stated.
Shaheen commended Babar for his steady displays across various conditions and significant tournaments, recognizing him as one of the top batters in the world.
“He consistently performs globally and is a top-tier athlete. He is well-loved, and he excels on major international platforms. In my opinion, he’s the only batter who consistently accumulates runs, and we anticipate his continued performance with the same fluidity. He is a prominent figure in the cricket world,” Shaheen remarked.
He further expressed his ambition to secure another title with Brisbane Heat, underscoring the significance of team camaraderie and relishing the sport.
“Winning another trophy would be incredible, making my first season even more remarkable. We secured three trophies in the PSL, and it’s largely attributed to the players and the management’s support, allowing you to enjoy your cricket,” he stated.
“That’s the crucial aspect. I am very optimistic as Brisbane Heat are a formidable team, and I am keen on winning another trophy with them,” he concluded.
