Konstas Excited to Team Up with Shadab Khan in BBL
The Big Bash League (BBL) is scheduled to feature 44 games between December 14 and January 25, 2026.
Australian top-order batsman Sam Konstas recently voiced his enthusiasm about joining forces with Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan in the approaching Big Bash League (BBL) season.
Having recently prolonged his agreement with Sydney Thunder for an additional four years, Konstas conveyed his strong desire to produce stellar performances alongside Shadab.
Discussing his renewed commitment, Konstas stated, “Our squad will compete with the optimal combination this season. With Shadab Khan’s inclusion, I anticipate we will showcase exceptional displays this year.”
Konstas also acknowledged the privilege of sharing the field with figures he admired during his youth.
“I have consistently watched athletes such as David Warner, Michael Hussey, and Andre Russell represent Thunder from the stands. Extending my contract for four more seasons is an exhilarating experience for me,” he added.
The young Australian reflected on his past experience batting with Warner, deeming it a ‘remarkable opportunity.’
The 19-year-old has already established himself in the BBL, participating in five games for Sydney Thunder. During his debut last December, Konstas achieved a milestone by recording the quickest half-century in the team’s history.
Konstas has garnered notable achievements early in his career. As a member of Australia’s victorious Under-19 World Cup team, he has also played for the national team in Test matches. He is yet to debut in limited-overs cricket.
Notably, this will mark Shadab’s fourth BBL franchise, having formerly played for Brisbane Heat, Sydney Sixers, and Hobart Hurricanes.
The 26-year-old has participated in 12 BBL matches thus far, securing 14 wickets at an economy rate of 7.50.
