Saint Lucia Kings Secure Victory Over Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL 2025
TAROUBA: Saint Lucia Kings showcased a dominant display, defeating Trinbago Knight Riders by a margin of seven wickets in a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 match held here on Wednesday. Tabraiz Shamsi’s match-defining bowling was instrumental in this triumph, dismantling the Knight Riders’ batting order.
David Wiese, the Kings’ captain, opted to field first after winning the toss, a choice that ultimately proved advantageous. The Knight Riders, batting first, struggled to establish a substantial score and were eventually bowled out for a mere 109 runs in 18.1 overs.
Knight Riders’ Innings
Nicholas Pooran, the captain, demonstrated some resilience but his time at the crease was limited. He achieved the highest score with 30 runs from 27 deliveries, which included two sixes and a boundary.
Nathan Edward contributed a slow 17 runs from 24 balls, hitting a single six. Kieron Pollard also found it difficult, scoring only 14 runs from 17 balls before his dismissal.
Andre Russell did not meet expectations, scoring 12 runs from seven balls with one six and one four. Darren Bravo added 11 runs from nine balls, including a six and a four.
Aside from these players, the remaining batsmen struggled, with six failing to reach double digits.
Kings’ Bowling Attack
Shamsi stood out as the premier bowler for the Kings, securing 3 wickets for just 12 runs in his four-over allocation.
Roston Chase, Khary Pierre, and Delano Potgieter each claimed two wickets, while Alzarri Joseph secured one.

In response, the Kings found the target of 110 runs easily attainable. They achieved the required score in just 11.1 overs, losing three wickets in the process.
Tim Seifert, the opening batsman, led the charge with a rapid 36 runs from 19 balls, including one six and six fours, setting a strong tempo for the chase.
Ackeem Auguste contributed a swift 28 runs from 18 balls, hitting one six and four boundaries. Chase remained not out with 27 runs from 18 balls, which featured five fours.
For the Knight Riders, Sunil Narine managed to take 2 wickets for 28 runs in his four overs, while Usman Tariq secured one wicket, but their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful.
