Sabalenka Set to Clash with Anisimova in French Open Fourth Round
World number one Aryna Sabalenka showcased her impressive form at the French Open, securing her place in the fourth round with a dominant 6-2, 6-3 victory over Olga Danilovic at Court Philippe-Chatrier on Friday.
The Belarusian player asserted control early, overpowering Danilovic with her aggressive style. Despite some pushback from the Serbian competitor in the second set, Sabalenka remained composed and clinched the match in straight sets.
“I’m very pleased with the win,” Sabalenka commented following the match. “Olga is a true competitor, and I anticipated a tough contest. Her performance was top-tier, and I believe she’ll be in the top 10 very soon.”
Sabalenka quickly established a 5-0 advantage in the initial set before Danilovic managed to hold serve and break back, preventing a shutout. However, the top seed swiftly regained control to secure the set.
Danilovic displayed signs of a potential comeback in the second set, but Sabalenka’s constant pressure proved insurmountable.
The three-time Grand Slam champion finalized the win with an unreturnable serve after one hour and 20 minutes on the court.
The match, held before a sparse crowd, saw Sabalenka solidify her position as a strong contender for the title.
Notably, she is now scheduled to face 16th seed Amanda Anisimova of the United States in the fourth round on Sunday.
