Saad Habib Malik Secures Runner-Up Position at Dallas Amateur Golf Championship
Saad Habib Malik, Pakistan’s National Junior Amateur Golf Champion, showcased exceptional skill at the Dallas Amateur Golf Championship 2025, securing the runner-up title amidst strong international competition on Monday.
The championship, a three-round event, took place at Cedar Crest Golf Course in Dallas from July 25-27, featuring 60 accomplished golfers with handicaps of +2 and better.
Despite the demanding course conditions, marked at 73.2 with a slope of 131, along with hot and humid weather, only a handful of players managed to conclude the event under par, emphasizing the tournament’s difficulty.
Saad, granted a special exemption to participate based on his World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), demonstrated resilience after an initial setback.
He began the tournament with a 74, four over par, but quickly regained momentum.
During the second round, he carded a four-under-par score, highlighted by four birdies and no bogeys, and followed it up with an even more impressive five-under-par showing in the final round.
His final round incorporated six birdies, including three consecutive birdies on the 13th, 14th, and 15th holes.
With a total score of five under par (-5), he tied with Sam Braver. However, through the application of the countback rule, Saad was awarded second place. Akshay Mandadapu, the tournament frontrunner, finished at -8 to clinch the championship.
Saad’s second-place finish in a robust field on U.S. soil represents a major achievement in his budding career. His steady play and mental toughness highlight his potential to become one of Pakistan’s most promising young golfers.
