Rumman Raees Temporarily Steps Away from PSL 2025 Due to Family Tragedy
Islamabad United’s fast bowling consultant, Rumman Raees, has taken a temporary leave from his duties in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 following the unfortunate demise of his sister.
Raees shared the sorrowful news via a post on X, requesting prayers for his departed sister.
Consequently, Rumman will not accompany the Islamabad United team for their forthcoming matches. The Shadab Khan-led squad is slated to play against Multan Sultans in Multan on April 23.
There is anticipation that Rumman might rejoin the team before their match against Lahore Qalandars in Lahore on April 30.
Islamabad United has displayed excellent form in the current PSL season, securing victories in all four of their matches and currently leading the table with eight points. Their recent triumph was against Karachi Kings at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.
In that match, United chased a target of 129 runs successfully, achieving the win with six wickets remaining and 17 balls to spare. The new opening duo, Sahibzada Farhan and Azam Khan, provided a brisk start, adding 34 runs before Farhan was dismissed by Hasan Ali for a quick 30 off 18 balls, which included five fours and a six.
Hasan struck again in the same over, removing Colin Munro for just four runs, leaving United at 38/2 in 4.5 overs.
Skipper Shadab Khan then formed a significant 65-run partnership with Azam Khan to stabilize the innings. Azam contributed a composed 31 off 30 balls, with three fours and a six, before being dismissed by Mohammad Nabi in the 14th over.
Shadab played a pivotal innings, scoring 47 off 40 balls, including five fours and two sixes. He was dismissed by Abbas Afridi in the 17th over, just one run short of the target.
