Mohammad Rizwan Comments on On-Field Spat Between Munro and Iftikhar

LAHORE: Multan Sultans’ captain, Mohammad Rizwan, addressed the disagreement that occurred between Islamabad United’s Colin Munro and bowler Iftikhar Ahmed during the 13th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10.

The event unfolded during the tenth over of Islamabad United’s pursuit of runs at Multan Cricket Stadium, where Munro gestured towards Iftikhar Ahmed, provoking a heated verbal exchange.

Rizwan subsequently intervened in the discussion.

Speaking to reporters after the game, the wicketkeeper batter explained that these situations are typically managed by match officials.

“This matter was reviewed, and it falls to the umpire and referee to take appropriate measures and record the incident,” Rizwan commented.

Reflecting on Multan Sultans’ showing in PSL 10, the 32-year-old conveyed his belief that the team is prepared to improve on their weaknesses in future contests.

“Challenges arise when we face defeat, but we are committed to diligently addressing our errors,” he remarked.

The right-handed batter noted fielding lapses as a considerable issue while also mentioning the effect of sickness within the team.

“We must limit opportunities for batters. Key players such as Shai Hope and Aqif Javed were unable to play due to illness. We are adjusting our lineup, offering opportunities to emerging players as well,” he added.

The Multan Sultans captain minimized the relevance of their current position in the standings, highlighting the need to perform well.

“Our primary concern isn’t the points table. It’s crucial to demonstrate quality cricket and concentrate on the matches ahead. Although my strike rate is satisfactory, my emphasis remains on the team’s objectives.”

“I am ready to fulfill any role the team needs, adapting our strategy to suit the conditions. Our decisions often depend on the state of the pitch,” Mohammad Rizwan concluded.

In terms of his own performance, Rizwan commented that while his strike rate has improved, he places a higher value on the team’s requirements over individual statistics.

“While my strike rate is decent, my focus is on the team’s goals. I am committed to fulfilling any role that the team requires, and our strategy frequently changes depending on the pitch and match conditions,” he concluded.
