Knight Riders Secure Victory in CPL 2025

TRINIDAD: Trinbago Knight Riders achieved a comfortable eight-wicket victory against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, marking their third triumph in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025. The match took place Thursday at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba.

The Falcons, after electing to bat first, managed to score 146-7 in their 20 overs. Jewel Andrew, the wicketkeeper-batter, was the leading scorer with a contribution of 40 runs from 31 deliveries.

Captain Imad Wasim added a vital unbeaten 37 runs off 25 balls, which included five boundaries, while Usama Mir contributed a swift 34 runs from 26 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes.

Andries Gous (14) and Shakib Al Hasan (13) also made contributions; however, the remaining batting order struggled to maintain momentum.

Mohammad Amir stood out for the Riders, recording an impressive performance with 3/22 in his four overs. Akeal Hosein and Andre Russell each claimed two wickets, successfully restricting the Falcons.

In response, Trinbago efficiently chased the set target in 18.4 overs, only losing two wickets in the process.

Keacy Carty played a stabilizing innings with 60 runs from 45 balls, and Alex Hales remained unbeaten with 55 runs from 46 deliveries. Captain Nicholas Pooran added a rapid 23 runs from just 11 balls, securing the victory.

For the Falcons, Jayden Seales and Shakib Al Hasan each secured one wicket, while the other bowlers were unable to take any wickets.

Following this win, the Knight Riders have moved up to second place in the points table, with a total of six points from four games, comprising three wins and one loss, and a net run rate of 0.504.

Notably, Amir, the left-arm pacer, has so far claimed six wickets in the four matches of the season, with an economy rate of 8.56.
