Manchester City Eyes Donnarumma Amidst Ederson Speculation

Manchester City is reportedly considering Gianluigi Donnarumma as a potential replacement for Ederson if the latter decides to pursue a transfer, according to international reports. The club’s priority is to retain Ederson at the Etihad Stadium.

Donnarumma has affirmed his departure from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after being excluded from the UEFA Super Cup squad against Tottenham. City is said to have a strong interest in the Italian goalkeeper; however, any potential deal hinges on Ederson’s intentions, as he seeks the best option for his career.

Reports indicate that no formal offers have been made for Ederson to date. Back in June, during the FIFA Club World Cup, Ederson stated his commitment to Manchester City, emphasizing his desire to compete for the Premier League title and the Champions League.

The club has already reinforced their goalkeeping options this summer, bringing back James Trafford from Burnley for £27 million, two years after his initial departure. Furthermore, veteran Marcus Bettinelli, 33, has joined from Chelsea for a minimal fee.

Manager Pep Guardiola reportedly prefers to keep Ederson, whose contract has one year remaining. The ultimate decision, however, rests with the Brazilian goalkeeper. Ederson has been linked with potential moves to Galatasaray and clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

Meanwhile, PSG’s Luis Enrique stated that his choice to favor new signing Lucas Chevalier over Donnarumma was supported by the club’s management, as he seeks a goalkeeper with a ‘different profile’. Donnarumma has also been mentioned in connection with Manchester United, alongside City.
