Ekitike Expected to Finalize Six-Year Deal with Liverpool
Liverpool has reportedly reached an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt to acquire Hugo Ekitike for £79 million ($106m), according to international reports released on Monday.
Reports indicate that the arrangement includes an upfront payment of £69m ($92.7m), with an additional £10m ($13.4m) contingent on performance-related add-ons.
Ekitike is poised to commit to a six-year contract. He is scheduled to travel to the UK on Tuesday to finalize the transfer, pending a medical evaluation.
Liverpool anticipates having him available for their preseason tour in Asia, where they are slated to play AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday in their opening match.
Newcastle also submitted a bid to Frankfurt for Ekitike; however, the French player has chosen to join the Premier League contenders.
Hugo Ekitike, who participated in 33 matches for Frankfurt last season, registering 15 goals, is expected to undergo a medical assessment shortly.
Ekitike excels not only as a scorer but also as a provider. Beyond his goal-scoring prowess, he ranked among the top 6% of forwards in Germany for generating opportunities last season, contributing eight assists.
The French forward also stood out in terms of shots on goal, launching 117 attempts on target in the Bundesliga campaign, surpassing all other players.
His expected goals metric reached 21.6, positioning him as the league’s second highest.
Ekitike transitioned from Paris Saint-Germain to Frankfurt on a permanent basis last summer, following a fruitful loan period in the latter half of the 2023/24 season.
Ekitike has reportedly engaged in discussions regarding his role with Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, who has designated him the No. 9 position within the squad.
