Haliburton to Undergo MRI After Straining Calf

Indiana Pacers’ prominent player, Tyrese Haliburton, sustained a strained right calf during Game 5 of the NBA Finals versus the Oklahoma City Thunder and will undergo an MRI to assess the damage, according to reports.

The Pacers are currently trailing the Thunder 3-2 in the NBA Finals series. Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday in Indianapolis.

Haliburton, seemingly in discomfort during the initial quarter of Monday night’s game, continued to play as Oklahoma City secured a 120-109 victory. Over 34 minutes, he recorded four points, seven rebounds, and six assists, but failed to convert any of his six field-goal attempts.

Despite his performance, Haliburton expressed his dedication to supporting his team, stating, “It’s the Finals. I’ve worked to be here, and I want to compete and assist my teammates.”

“I wasn’t at my best, but not playing wasn’t an option. If I can walk, I’ll play,” he added.

Carlisle Confirms Haliburton’s Condition

Indiana’s coach, Rick Carlisle, acknowledged Haliburton’s compromised fitness level.

“He’s not at full strength, that’s evident. I doubt he’ll miss the upcoming game,” Carlisle remarked.

“We were concerned at halftime, but he insisted on playing. He contributed positively in the second half, despite not being 100%. Many players in this series are dealing with similar issues.”

Across 21 postseason games, Haliburton has averaged 17.9 points, 9.1 assists, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals. During the regular season, he averaged 18.6 points, 9.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals over 73 games.
