Qalandars and Gladiators Split Points After Weather Interruption

LAHORE: The highly-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 match between the Lahore Qalandars and the Quetta Gladiators was called off due to adverse weather conditions on Thursday.

After being put in to bat, the Qalandars managed to score 111/3 in 11.3 overs before a dust storm suspended play.

The Qalandars faced an early setback when Khurram Shahzad dismissed Fakhar Zaman for a duck in the opening over.

Following this early loss, Abdullah Shafique partnered with Mohammad Naeem, orchestrating a remarkable recovery.

The duo dominated the Gladiators’ bowling attack, amassing 102 runs for the second wicket in just 57 balls.

Abrar Ahmed eventually broke the partnership, dismissing Naeem in the 10th over. Naeem scored 50 runs from 30 balls, including three fours and four sixes.

Ahmed struck again in his subsequent over, removing Daryl Mitchell (three), leaving the Qalandars at 111/3 in 11.3 overs.

Mitchell’s dismissal was immediately followed by a dust storm, prompting the players to leave the field and the fans to seek cover.

Shafique remained not out with 53 runs off 32 balls, including three fours and three sixes.

Following the dust storm, a steady rain began, ultimately leading to the match’s abandonment.

As a result of the match being abandoned, both the Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators shared a point each, holding second and third positions with nine points, respectively.

Islamabad United remains at the top of the PSL 10 standings with 10 points from six matches. Karachi Kings are in fourth place with eight points from seven games, closely trailing the Gladiators.

Peshawar Zalmi is currently fifth in the PSL 10 standings with four points from six matches and a net run rate of -0.847, having won only two matches.

Multan Sultans remain at the bottom of the standings with two points from eight matches and have been eliminated from playoff contention in PSL 10.
