Qalandars Overcome Sultans, Ascend to Second Place in PSL 10

LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars, playing on their home ground, clinched a five-wicket victory against Multan Sultans in the 16th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

After being asked to bat, the Sultans posted a competitive total of 185/3, propelled by half-centuries from captain Mohammad Rizwan and Kamran Ghulam.

Rizwan was the highest scorer for the Sultans, remaining undefeated with 76 runs from 48 balls, which included six boundaries and three sixes. Ghulam contributed 52 not out from 31 deliveries, hitting two fours and four sixes.

For the Qalandars, Tom Curran, Haris, and Daryl Mitchell each managed to secure one wicket.

Subsequently, the Qalandars successfully chased the target of 186 runs, losing five wickets and with six balls remaining, securing their third triumph in PSL 10.

Daryl Mitchell spearheaded the chase for the home team, scoring a match-high 64 runs from 38 balls, consisting of four fours and an equal number of sixes.

He received valuable support from experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who contributed an unbeaten 40 runs off 21 balls, striking two boundaries and four sixes.

This victory enables the two-time champions to surpass Karachi Kings for the second spot, now holding six points from six matches and a superior net run rate of 0.543.

Conversely, the Sultans, after their fifth defeat in six matches, remain at the bottom of the standings with only two points and a net run rate of -1.562.

Islamabad United, the defending champions, continue to lead the PSL 10 standings with 10 points from five matches, while Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators are positioned fourth and fifth, respectively, each with four points.
