LAHORE: In a captivating match held at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, Quetta Gladiators secured a narrow victory against Karachi Kings by five runs. This win marks their second triumph in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10.
The Gladiators, after electing to bat, were dismissed for 142 in 19.3 overs. The Kings’ bowling attack proved effective. Hasan Ali spearheaded the bowling attack, claiming three wickets, while Mir Hamza and Abbas Afridi supported with two wickets each.
For Quetta, Faheem Ashraf delivered a vital innings, scoring 43 runs from 27 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes. The middle-order provided support, with Kusal Mendis contributing 36 off 22 balls and Hassan Nawaz adding 35 off 34 deliveries.
Chasing the target, Karachi Kings could only muster 137-8 in their allotted 20 overs, despite notable efforts from Tim Seifert (47 off 26), James Vince (30 off 29), and Hasan Ali, who remained unbeaten with 24 off 13 balls.
Mohammad Amir, Khurram Shahzad, and Mohammad Wasim Jr. each captured two wickets for the Gladiators, playing a crucial role in securing the win.
Islamabad United’s Dominance
Islamabad United continue their dominant run in PSL 10, maintaining an undefeated record after five matches. With five wins in five games, they command the top position with 10 points and an impressive Net Run Rate (NRR) of +2.342, positioning them as formidable contenders this season.
Karachi Kings hold the second spot with 6 points, having secured three wins in six games. However, their NRR of -0.217 indicates that their defeats have been more substantial than their victories.
Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators are in a close contest, each holding 4 points.
Lahore Qalandars are currently third due to a superior NRR of +0.561, followed by Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators with NRRs of -0.362 and -0.625, respectively.
Multan Sultans are currently at the bottom, struggling with only one win from five matches, resulting in 2 points and the tournament’s lowest NRR of -1.764.
