Sahir Associates Poised for Victory in President’s Trophy Grade-II Final
ABBOTTABAD: A remarkable century by Fahad Usman on Saturday has placed Sahir Associates on the verge of winning the President’s Trophy Grade-II final against MIT Solutions. The match is being held at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.
Sahir Associates resumed their second innings on the third day of the four-day final with Usman and Khawaja Muhammad Abdullah at the crease, starting from a score of 52/0. They proceeded to amass a significant total of 367/7 in 78 overs, establishing a commanding 504-run lead by the close of play.
The day began poorly for Sahir Associates when their opening partnership was broken after adding only 18 runs, with Abdullah being dismissed for obstructing the field. He scored 31 runs off as many balls, including five boundaries.
Usman, however, remained steadfast, forging valuable partnerships with Mohammad Saleem and Ahmer Ashfaq. Saleem contributed 36 runs, while Ashfaq added 51, bolstering Sahir Associates’ total.
Usman was eventually dismissed after an impressive innings of 158 runs from 191 deliveries, which included 13 fours and eight sixes.
Kaleem Ullah and Raza Ullah were the most successful bowlers for MIT Solutions, each claiming two wickets.
Mohsin Ali and Shahid Ali, who are not out on 16 and one respectively, are set to continue Sahir Associates’ second innings on the final day.
Notably, should the final match end in a draw, Sahir Associates will be declared the winners due to their first-innings lead, which would also secure their qualification for the President’s Trophy Grade-I.
