Premier League Unveils Fixtures for 2025/26 Season
The Premier League has officially revealed its schedule for the 2025/26 season, featuring a total of 380 matches. The competition is set to commence on August 15 and will conclude on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
Opening Fixtures
Liverpool, the current title holders, will commence their campaign at Anfield against Bournemouth in the season’s inaugural match. Meanwhile, Manchester City, under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, will face Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 16 as they pursue their seventh Premier League title.
The league has previously underscored its focus on the well-being of players, ensuring that each team receives a minimum of 60 hours of rest between matches during the busy holiday period.
Leeds United is scheduled to host Everton at Elland Road for the first Monday night match of the season. Burnley, having rejoined the top tier, will compete against Tottenham Hotspur, the Europa League champions, in London.
Fixture Planning Challenges
Premier League fixture coordinator Glenn Thompson spoke about the complexities of the fixture planning process.
“It’s impossible to please everyone. The schedule represents a compromise among all clubs; no single club can be favored above others.
“Over a nine-month period, there are 2,036 matches across the Premier League and Football League, and the objective is to ensure that all matches are played as scheduled.”
The 2025/26 season will span 33 weekends and include five midweek rounds, ending with the final matchday on May 24.
