Mets’ David Peterson to Face Landon Knack in Series Finale

LOS ANGELES: Pete Alonso delivered a stellar performance, crushing two home runs and driving in five runs, as the New York Mets dominated the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 6-1 victory in their Major League Baseball (MLB) showdown at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday.

The Mets surged to an early 3-0 advantage in the opening inning, highlighted by Alonso’s two-run blast. Later in the eighth, he launched a towering 447-foot, three-run homer, marking his 14th of the season.

Griffin Canning (6-2) showcased his pitching prowess, tossing six scoreless innings for the Mets while conceding just three hits and one walk, alongside seven strikeouts.

Andy Pages managed to hit a home run off Ryne Stanek in the ninth inning, which accounted for the Dodgers’ only run. Despite Pages’ effort to avoid a shutout, they suffered their third loss in the past four games. This homer prevented what would have been their fourth shutout defeat this season.

Shohei Ohtani had a quiet game, going scoreless with only two hits and failing to make a significant impact.

Juan Soto initiated the scoring for the Mets with an RBI groundout. The Mets have now secured nine wins in their last 11 games.

Following Soto’s RBI grounder in the first, Alonso contributed with a two-run home run.

Alonso’s three-run homer in the eighth inning represented the Mets’ fourth and final hit of the game.

This two-homer game marked the 22nd of Alonso’s career, putting him level with Darryl Strawberry for the most in franchise history.

Gonsolin, who pitched for five innings, surrendered three runs on three hits and three walks, while also recording six strikeouts.

New York enters the Thursday finale with a four-games-to-two lead in the series, where the Mets’ David Peterson is slated to start against Landon Knack.
