Pakistan Shaheens’ Batting Collapse Against Professional County Club Select XI

BACKENHAM: In the second one-day match of the three-game series against the Professional County Club Select XI held on Friday at the County Ground, Pakistan Shaheens were bowled out for a mere 152 runs.

After being put in to bat, the Shaheens struggled to gain any significant traction, with wickets falling at consistent intervals.

The team’s troubles began early, slumping to 85-4 within the first 17 overs. Ali Zaryab was run out after contributing 14 runs from 23 deliveries.

Omair Bin Yousuf’s struggles continued as he managed only four runs off five balls before being dismissed LBW by Mitchell Stanley. Captain Saud Shakeel also had a quiet day, adding just five runs to the total.

Haider Ali, who played a crucial innings in the series opener, was removed for 15, while Maaz Sadaqat departed after scoring seven runs from 14 balls. Both batsmen were taken out by Scott Currie, leaving the Shaheens at 103-5 in 20.2 overs.

The situation worsened with the exit of wicketkeeper Rohail Nazir, also dismissed by Currie for eight, marking the bowler’s third wicket of the innings.

Opening batsman Azan Awais displayed resilience, scoring a determined half-century and trying to hold the innings together amidst the constant loss of partners.

However, the lower order provided minimal support. Shahid Aziz and Ubaid Shah were dismissed for 13 and two runs, respectively, leaving the team struggling at 148-8 in 27.5 overs.

After a resilient effort, Azan Awais was eventually out for 68 off 85 balls, which included three boundaries and a six, falling to Jafer Chohan, with the team’s score at 151-9 in 29.1 overs.

Mir Hamza was the last batsman to be dismissed, scoring just one run before being bowled by Chohan, ending Pakistan’s innings in 29.3 overs.

For PCC Select XI, Jafer Chohan was the standout bowler, securing 4/43 in 5.3 overs, while Scott Currie claimed three wickets. Tom Lawes and Mitchell Stanley supported with one wicket each.
